Mathematics

Montessori Mathematics has the distinct advantage of being concrete in nature which establishes a strong understanding of mathematics in very young children. Children begin to understand abstract ideas at about the age of eight. Up until that time of abstraction children will learn best from these concrete, hands-on materials. Even after a person is capable of learning abstractly, I find that it is quite useful to be able to demonstrate concepts concretely - it promotes and deeper and more accurate understanding.
