Screwdriver Work

Screwdriver Work
Objective:  The Screwdriver Work is designed to help the child practice using a screwdriver.  Using a screwdriver strengthens the fingers to hold a pencil properly.

Ages:  2 - 4 years
Control of Error:  The screws can be turned only with the proper type of screwdriver and the right amount of pressure and twisting.

Presentation:  Retrieve the Screwdriver Work from the shelf.  Use the screwdriver to drive the nails all the way into the wood, all the way out and back to approximately half way in.  Return the work to the appropriate spot on the shelf.  If the work is set up with two different screwdrivers you may show that the phillips screwdriver does not turn screws designed for a flat head screwdriver by attempting to use it on a flat head screw and then changing screwdrivers.

Extension 1:  Increase the difficulty of the work by using two or three different sizes and types of screwdrivers and screws.

Specifics:  This Screwdriver Work was made at home.
